Forward Madison’s Christian “Pato” Díaz has been nominated for the USL League One Defender of the Year award, the league has announced.
Díaz, who played left back for most of Forward Madison FC’s matches this season, was named to the USL League One Best XI earlier this week. He ranked second in the league with 52 interceptions, fourth with 50 tackles, and won 191 duels at a success rate of 64.5 percent. He made 165 recoveries and was only dribbled past by an opponent 28 times.
Díaz, 28, was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, but spent much of his youth in California and found excitement at the prospect of returning to the United States to play soccer
