Ja’net Dubois, who became famous playing the role of Willona Woods on the hit 70s sitcom Good Times has died, as reported by TMZ. She was 74.
Her family says she died in her sleep unexpectedly at her Glendale, California home.
Dubois grew up in Brooklyn, NY and began her career on Broadway. She has appeared in various plays, including “Golden Boy” with Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr and “A Raisin in the Sun.” In the ’70s, she would become well known for her role as the sassy, sexy, confident gossip, Willona Woods, in the Norman Lear-created series Good Times.
Dubois also composed and sang the theme song, “Movin’ On Up,” for Lear’s other popular sitcom, The Jeffersons.
