Lenard Wells, Retired Milwaukee Police Lieutenant, Dies from Coronavirus Complications

Lenard Wells, a fixture at the Milwaukee Police Department for 27 years, has passed away from complications of the coronavirus over the weekend, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Wells, 69, who retired as a lieutenant in the early 2000s, was also suffering from other underlying health conditions.

After retiring, Wells as appointed by Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin to Chair the Wisconsin Parole Board. After leaving the Parole Board, Lenard became the Miller Park Center Director for Concordia University Wisconsin. Lenard and Corene Wells co-authored the novel, “Who Killed Seven-Year-Old Calvin Hightower?” Wells was also a University of Memphis criminal justice professor.
