Madison artist Jerry Jordan paints portraits of his heroes and heroic depictions of ordinary people. He will be featured on a new episode in the all-new season of Wisconsin Life on Thursday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m. on PBS Wisconsin as they take viewers on a trip around the state to visit their neighbors and uncover their unique stories.
Angela Fitzgerald, the host of Wisconsin Life, connects the audience with people whose passions, experiences and expertise celebrate the best of Wisconsin. On Oct. 17, she will feature Jordan, who paints portraits of historic African American figures and his work has included illustrating children’s books on John Lewis and Ida B. Wells. In his works showing ordinary people, he often includes traditionally heroic elements like uniforms, armor and swords, elevating his subjects and incorporating his own symbolic visual language into his art.
This season, Fitzgerald will also cross the state to explore Wisconsin Concrete Park in Phillips, the Butterfly Gardens of Wisconsin in Appleton, Circus World in Baraboo, Northern Wisconsin State Fair in Chippewa Falls and more.
