The Common Council was in session late into the night Tuesday to pass a resolution that will move the current Reindahl Park encampment to a new space on Dairy Drive.

The resolution declares the threat of COVID-19 spread at the Reindahl encampment to be unsafe conditions. It declares that the area is under a state of emergency and allows for the city to prepare a new site for a temporary campground at 3202 Dairy Drive.

Bryan Cooper from the City of Madison’s Facilities and Engineering Division says following the approval they will begin improving the new sight Tuesday. He says the Dairy Drive location won’t be ready for approximately another eight weeks.
