Fitchburg Alders Joe Maldonado has easily won re-election to represent District 1, earning nearly 68 percent of the vote over challenger Mark Fairchild’s 32 percent.
Maldonado was first elected two years ago and will begin his second term. As an alder he has championed the establishment of a teen center as well as other economic development and racial equity initiatives.
Maldonado is co-owner of Luna’s Grocery and Community Youth development Program Manager at UW Extension.
