SHERMAN COUNTY, Texas – A grand jury in Sherman County, Texas, has indicted a Texas man on two counts of manslaughter in crash that killed Al and Janet Studesville in 2013, according to a story from KUSA.
Al and Janet Studesville died when the Texas Department of Public Safety says a semitrailer crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 54 in north Texas and hit their motorcycle head-on June 4, 2013.
The truck driver, Anthony Dewayne Buck, told officers he dropped a piece of candy and when he reached down to grab it, there was a bang.
Investigators said when Buck reached down the truck drove over the center line and he collided with the Studesvilles.
Besides working at Madison College, Al was a civil rights leader and, with Janet, owned the Just Nails salon in Fitchburg. Their son is Denver Broncos running back coach Eric Studesville.
Buck faces two to 20 years in prison for each count in the indictment. His case will be heard in the 69th District Court of Sherman County. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
