After their shocking Super Bowl LI championship victory over the Atlanta Falcons last night, New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett told reporters that he would not accompany his teammates to the White House, where they are set to be honored by President Donald Trump later this year.
“I haven’t thought about it. I am not going to go,” the New England Patriots tight end said. “I can elaborate later on in life; right now I am just trying to enjoy this … People know how I feel about it, just follow me on Twitter.”
On social media, Bennett has been a pretty consistent critic of President Trump. In December, he tweeted, “So Kanye (West) didn’t take the time to vote. And now he holding on to Trump’s coattail like Peter Pettigrew to Lord Voldemort. Kanye Pettigrew.”
On election night, Bennett posted onInstagram: “If you decide to move to outer space after tonight’s election, I may or may not have room on my spaceship so state your case in my comments. #theimaginationagency #FieldTripWithMarty #IWannaGo #DamnBro #imwithher.”
