Midwest Mujeres Collective, a nonprofit organization that educates entrepreneurial women on growing their businesses and freeing their voices, will host its annual ¡Yo Quiero Dinero! event on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the MyArts Theater on Madison’s near east side.
The event will spotlight the stories of women undervalued and marginalized by mainstream society.
“We are dedicated to addressing the racial wealth gap, and this empowering gathering will provide a platform for women to share their authentic narratives of economic survival, fostering understanding and solidarity within the community,” says Araceli Esparza, the founder of Midwest Mujeres Inc., announcing the event on Thursday. “We answer the call of economic development with our annual storytelling event, Yo Quiero Dinero! Our Stories Have Value.”
This year, ¡Yo Quiero Dinero! focuses on women of color who are thriving despite barriers of inequity. Midwest Mujeres is dedicated to helping all individuals who identify as women tell their stories of economic survival—the real stories of the racial wealth gap.
The event will highlight the experiences of first-generation, resilient mujeres who share the stories that have propelled them forward, according to a press release from Midwest Mujeres, and each of these extraordinary women has played a vital role in shaping the community.
