Forward Madison FC has signed midfielder Joshua Bolma for the 2026 season, pending league and federation approval, the club announced.
Bolma, 23, is a native of Accra, Ghana, and becomes the second FMFC signing this season from the Ghanaian capital. He developed at the Rising Stars of Africa Academy and appeared with the Ghana Youth National Team before moving to the United States in 2017 on a scholarship to South Kent School in Connecticut. There, he scored 33 goals and added 27 assists, won a national championship, and was named a National High School All-American and an All-State selection by Top Drawer Soccer.
Bolma went on to play collegiately at the University of Maryland, where he was named the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year after recording four goals and four assists. He earned First Team All-Big Ten honors in both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
He entered the 2023 MLS SuperDraft and was selected fourth overall by the New England Revolution, making his MLS debut in July of that year as a substitute in a 4-0 win. He recorded three goals and four assists for the club’s second team in 2023. In 2025, Bolma joined Houston Dynamo FC II, where he made 23 appearances and scored three goals.
“He is a quick, versatile and technically gifted player who can play across multiple lines and has key attacking qualities,” Forward Madison head coach and technical director Matt Glaeser said in a statement. “We anticipate him helping us greatly in accomplishing our goals and objectives for 2026.”
Sporting director Matt Cairns said Bolma is “an explosive athlete who can play multiple positions across the field” and described him as a player who could become “a dynamic attacking player in USL League One.”
Bolma said he was eager to join the club and compete in front of Forward Madison’s supporters.
Bolma will travel with the team to Nebraska this weekend for a match against Union Omaha. Forward Madison’s home opener is scheduled for May 16 against Detroit City FC at Breese Stevens Field in a league cup match.
