Moms on a Mission (MOMs) and Public Health Madison & Dane County will be hosting a community cookout at Demetral Park on Madison’s East Side on Sunday, Aug. 4, 1-5 p.m.
MOMs is a grassroots, community group of mothers who are based at Madison East High School to help foster a positive school community for kids.
The community cookout will have free food and refreshments along with access to various community resources. “We will have food trucks, a three-on-three basketball tournament, a fake nail and tattoo tent as well as cotton candy and snow cones,” Kaziah Anderson, co-founder of MOMs, tells Madison365.
This event is a community response to recent violence, including the mass shooting at the Lux Apartments earlier this summer. The community cookout is an opportunity for neighbors, friends, and family to come together, support each other, and promote healing. The event is free and all community members are welcome to attend.
