As part of a nationwide movement that hosts National Night Out every August, the Madison Police Department, Madison Area Crime Stoppers and other local organizations will be hosting a series of National Night Outs this week, community-building campaigns to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

In partnership with the Madison Mallards, a National Night Out event hosted by the Madison Police Department will take place outside of Mallards Stadium at Warner Park (2920 N. Sherman Ave.) on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 4-7 p.m. In its second-last regular season home game of the year, the Mallards will be taking on the Lakeshore Chinooks at 6:05 p.m. that night.

National Night Out, which takes place annually on the first Tuesday in August, enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community, according to its national website, and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Madison Area Crime Stoppers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting law enforcement in solving crimes and improving public safety in the Madison area, will be partnering to host several National Night Out events across Dane County this week and beyond, where they will provide community members with valuable resources, interactive activities, and information about their crime prevention efforts.

This week, Madison Area Crime Stoppers will be present at the following National Night Out events:

  • Tuesday, Aug 5, 5-7 pm at Westmorland Park in Madison with Madison Police
  • Tuesday, Aug 5, 4:30-7 pm at 119 Industrial Dr in Marshall with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office
  • Wednesday, Aug 6, 5-7 pm at Lakeview Park in Middleton with Middleton Police
  • Wednesday, Aug 6, 5-7 pm at Village Park in Waunakee with Waunakee Police
  • Thursday, Aug 7, 5-7 pm at Cannery Square in Sun Prairie with Sun Prairie Police
  • Thursday, Aug 7, 5-7 pm at Glacier Creek Middle School with Cross Plains Police

“National Night Out is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect directly with the community,” said Tyler Grigg, president of Madison Area Crime Stoppers, in a press release. “We believe that fostering strong relationships between the public and law enforcement is key to maintaining safe and vibrant neighborhoods.

“We encourage everyone to come out and join us at these fun events,” Grigg added. “Not only is it a great opportunity  to learn about crime prevention, but it’s also a chance to connect with your neighbors and local law enforcement.”
