Sun Prairie’s Ruffin, Johnson Earn Honors

Sun Prairie Senior Marlan Ruffin was named Wisconsin State Journal All-Area player of the year yesterday. Ruffin helped the Cardinals end nearly two decades of Madison Memorial dominance in the conference by leading the Cardinals to the Big Eight Conference title and taking them the State semi-finals.

Ruffin has been named Big Eight player of the year. He was also named to the Wisconsin Coaches Association All-State First Team as a unanimous selection, and named All-State Second Team by the Associated Press.

According to reports from Madison.com Ruffin has yet to decide his college of choice but has fielded offers from various programs and has been in touch with the University of Wisconsin.

Ruffin’s teammate, Sophomore Jalen Johnson, was also named to the All-State Second Team by the Associated Press. Johnson is ranked seventh in the United States by ESPN for the class of 2020.
