UW-Whitewater to host “Hybrid Intelligence” exhibition exploring AI and art

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Crossman Gallery will present “Hybrid Intelligence,” an exhibition featuring internationally recognized digital artist Fei Jun alongside work by UW-Whitewater students, from Feb. 23 through March 19 in the Greenhill Center of the Arts.

The exhibition is part of the 2026 Schuh Visiting Artist program and explores how emerging AI technologies are reshaping artistic practice, ethical thinking, and ecological consciousness. It emphasizes AI’s role not only in the production of artwork but in its conceptual development.

Fei Jun is a professor in the Art and Technology program at the School of Design, Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. His work focuses on hybrid spaces created through the interplay between virtual and physical environments, and has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and art festivals internationally.

An artist’s talk is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, followed by an exhibition reception at 7 p.m.

The exhibition and Fei Jun’s visit are supported by the Annette and Dale Schuh Visiting Artist Endowment, established in 2015 to fund annual visits by prominent visual artists to the UW-Whitewater Department of Art and Design. The endowment is now in its tenth year.
