17-year-old Shay Watson died Sunday night after being shot in his home on the 2700 block of Lyman Lane. Fitchburg police say they’re investigating the death as a homicide.
Watson’s family says a visitation will be held at Gunderson Fitchburg Funeral and Cremation Care at 2950 Chapel Valley Road from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Police have yet to make any arrests in the shooting, and have not released any information on possible suspects, citing the ongoing investigation. They say they do not believe the shooting was a random act.
A GoFundMe account was created in Watson’s memory to create a reward fund for any information leading to an arrest. As of Thursday morning, the fund was nearly halfway to its $2,500 goal.
