In a press release Thursday, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) announced that its members would march in downtown Milwaukee at 9 am to protest refugee children being detained in the United States. The march will begin on the corner of Wisconsin Ave and 5th street and head toward the office of US Senator Ron Johnson, Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.

“It’s time to stop the jailing of innocent boys and girls suffering at the hands of the U.S. federal government agents,” said LULAC president Domingo Garcia in a statemebt. “We want Senator Johnson to know that LULAC will march, protest and pursue every lawful means possible to stop this inhumane attack. This is only the first blast. Welcome to Milwaukee, President Trump.”

The march coincides with the arrival of President Donald Trump, who is in Milwaukee to attend a fundraiser for his re-election campaign.
