The victim of Madison’s fourth homicide of the year has been named.
The Dane County Medical Examiner said in a statement 25-year-old Jameel Easter was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning.
Easter died in the hospital after he was hit with gunfire in the 900 block of Vernon Avenue, Police Chief Mike Koval said. He was from the west side and had children.
A vigil held Saturday night for Easter was also peppered with gunfire, according to Madison police. No one was hurt, and no one has been arrested.
