Let’s talk arts & heritage: Opal Tomashevska to moderate panel on how the arts keep cultures alive at the 356 Leadership Summit

Opal Tomashevska, a spoken word artist and Director of Multicultural Business Strategy at TruStage, will lead a panel titled “Preserving Heritage: The Role of Art in Keeping Cultures Alive” on October 28 at the 365 Leadership Summit presented by UW Credit Union.

The seventh annual summit will take place November 6 and 7 and include more than 20 panel discussion on a wide range of topics, as well as the largest-ever 365 Leadership Community Choice Awards. Registration is open now at this link.

Opal is the Director of Multicultural Business Strategy at TruStage, where she is responsible for leading the development, direction, and execution of the company’s Multicultural Business Strategy (MCBS).  The MCBS team exists to help CUNA Mutual Group and credit union partners understand multicultural consumers, identify business opportunities, develop action plans, and execute those plans to better serve more customers and generate substantial business growth. 

In 2020 Opal was named as one of Wisconsin’s 51 most influential Black Leaders by Madison365. In 2022 she was awarded the Dominican Mission Alumni Award from Edgewood College.

Opal joined TruStage, formerly CUNA Mutual Group in 2014.  She brings nearly 20 years of professional experience in trend analysis, facilitation, organizational development, community organizing, creative direction, multicultural marketing, and business leadership.  Prior to joining CUNA Mutual she held a variety of roles at SITEL, Dean Health, Forward Community Investments and American Family Insurance.  

She holds a Master of Science in Organizational Development from Edgewood College and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.  

Opal serves on the Board of Directors for Urban Community Arts Network (UCAN), on the Advisory Council for The Melanin Project, and as the Communications Director for the African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) Midwest Chapter Board.
