The application windows for the Madison Metropolitan School District’s (MMSD) Dual-Language Immersion (DLI) lottery and Madison Promise online program for the 2025–26 school year close on Friday, April 25, 4 p.m.

“These programs are points of pride in our catalog of educational choices, and have consistently proven to benefit outcomes for those enrolled,” said Cindy Green, MMSD’s assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, in a press release. “Both comprise a significant part of our commitment to ensuring that our students graduate college, career and community ready.”

Of the District’s 52 schools, 10 elementary, five middle and all four comprehensive high schools offer DLI programming, according to a press release from MMSD. Additionally, Lake View Elementary School and Black Hawk Middle School maintain the only Hmong bilingual programs in the state, serving students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Launched in the 2021–22 school year and open to high schoolers in grades nine through 12, the Madison Promise online program is grounded in five core principles: meaningful student engagement, strong relationship-building by dedicated teachers, high-quality training and professional development for educators, flexibility and a commitment to student voice and choice.

“One of the many important lessons we learned during the pandemic is that some individuals thrive — and achieve their greatest academic success—in a virtual learning environment,” said Dr. Anu Ebbe, associate superintendent of elementary schools and lead administrator for Madison Promise. “This program combines the rigor and personal support of traditional, in-person learning with the flexibility that helps many truly flourish.”
