Last week: unranked.
This week: #10.

After beating then-no. 5 LSU, 16-14, at Lambeau Field this past Saturday, the Wisconsin Badgers football team matched the best season debut in poll history coming in at no. 10 on the first AP poll. The Arizona Wildcats did the same in 2014.

Wisconsin rival Michigan, following a big win over Hawaii, moved up two spots to No. 5 in the first AP regular-season college football poll, released Tuesday. The Badgers will open up their Big 10 schedule versus Michigan State, which defeated Furman in its opener, and remained No. 12 in the AP poll.

This is UW’s highest ranking since the Badgers were No. 10 in the final AP poll in 2011.

The top five teams are Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State and Stanford. The Crimson Tide earned 62 of 64 first-place votes in the poll after crushing USC, 52-6.
