Wisconsin sophomore Serah Williams is one of 15 players in the nation named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Wednesday.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Williams tied for first in blocked shots with 58 as a freshman  averaging 1.9 blocks per game as just a freshman. Williams’ strong ability to control the game on both ends of the floor earned her consensus Big Ten Freshman Team honors after the 2022-23 season, but the forward has since elevated her game to a new level.

The top blocker in the Big Ten, Williams is fifth in the nation in average blocks per game with 3.00 and is tied for 10th in the NCAA in total blocks with 57. Williams logged a career-high six blocks in Wisconsin’s game against Northwestern back on Jan.10, and tied for the ninth-most blocks ever recorded by a Badger in conference play.
