The league’s top defensive players and specialists were announced Tuesday and Wisconsin Badgers linebacker T.J. Edwards was named first-team All-Big Ten for the second year in a row.
Edwards was a first-team selection by the media voters and second team by the coaches. He finished the regular season with 104 tackles and led the Badgers in solo tackles (68), tackles for loss (10½) and total tackles.
Making the third team for the Badgers were linebackers Ryan Connelly and Andrew Van Ginkel and safety D’Cota Dixon.
Michigan’s Devin Bush was named the defensive player of the year and top linebacker. Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald was the unanimous choice for coach of the year after leading the Wildcats to an 8-4 record and the Big Ten West Division title.
The Big Ten offensive awards are scheduled to be announced on Wednesday.
