BGCDC, Thermo Fisher Scientific to host Juneteenth celebration today honoring community and resilience

0

In honor of Juneteenth, Thermo Fisher Scientific is partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County to host “A Juneteenth Tribute: From the Boys & Girls Club to the Bench” today at 10 a.m. at the Thermo Fisher Campus located just behind the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center in Fitchburg.

This special event will feature powerful reflections on equity, opportunity, and the impact of community support, according to a press release from BGCDC. The featured speakers will be Judge Christopher Bates, District Court Judge of Minnesota’s First Judicial District and former Club member, and Michael Johnson, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County.

Boys and Girls Club youth and staff will be present and a light brunch will be provided (donuts and fruit). Site tours are available by Thermo Fisher employees and the BGCDC team following the program.

“Juneteenth is a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and how much more we can achieve together. We’re proud to partner with Thermo Fisher to celebrate this day and to share stories like Judge Bates’ that remind us what’s possible when we invest in our youth and our communities,” Johnson said in a press release announcing the event.

This Juneteenth celebration, held in the Building 4 Badger Room at Thermo Fisher, will highlight the power of mentorship, opportunity, and resilience within the Black community while celebrating the lasting impact of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
