The Black Thought Wall Juneteenth Celebration will take place Friday, Jan. 18, 4-6 p.m.
YWCA Madison in partnership with Alicia Walters, founder of the Black Thought Project, is co-creating this interactive community art installation Black Thought Wall (BTW) as a restorative space that centers, celebrates, and stewards Black expression, thought, joy and sacredness.
This Juneteenth healing-centered celebration is being co-created with local Black artists, restorative practitioners, community advocates and organizations: Ayomi Obuseh and Impact Demand, Freedom Inc., Isha Camara, Rob Dz, Semaj Sconiers, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, The Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness and Urban Triage.
For the two hours of the event, we will have a Black Legacy altar, feel free to bring pictures, artifacts, or other from your loved ones, all past, present and future that you will like to honor and celebrate this day!
