UW-Madison announced Thursday that it would issue no general admission tickets for the WIAA state boys’ basketball tournament on March 19-21 at the Kohl Center.

Later, the WIAA announced that the girl’s tournament this weekend in Green Bay would also not be open to the general public.

Instead, teams will be allotted a limited number of tickets per roster member so that families can attend.

“This decision has been made in consultation with local and state public health officials to discourage and limit large gatherings on campuses in light of the COVID-19 situation,” UW Communications said in a press release. “The limit on the number of tickets is designed to reflect social distancing recommendations from public health officials.”

Games will still be televised and streamed live online.
