The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County has confirmed the first case of 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-2019) in a Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County employee.
According to a news release from Thursday afternoon, this BGCDC employee experienced symptoms after returning from vacation while the Clubs and administrative offices were closed. The Club employee never entered a club or office space, never interacted with any staff member nor kids after returning to Madison.
The youth care professional is in good condition and is quarantined to prevent spread of infection to others, BGCDC says.
“After developing symptoms, the individual took the appropriate action and stayed home. BGCDC will handle each case with the utmost respect to privacy, while also informing potentially affected staff and taking swift measures to mitigate spread of the virus,” BGCDC said in a press release. “While the Club remains closed until further notice, we are working with local public health officials and taking all precautionary measures regarding deep cleaning and sanitizing of facilities to ensure the safety of members, staff and volunteers should the Club reopen.”
