The State Supreme Court has ruled that Gov. Tony Evers does not have the authority to move the date of tomorrow’s spring election.
In a 4-2 vote, the court overturned the entirety of Evers’ order postponing the election, with the exception of a provision calling for a special session to take place at 2 pm Tuesday to address the date of the election.
Give that the election seems poised to go forward tomorrow, it is likely that the legislature will open a special session but not take any action.
Justice Daniel Kelly, who is up for election to a full term on tomorrow’s ballot, did not vote on the motion.
