
The Center for Black Excellence and Culture, a historic cultural center being constructed on Madison’s South Side dedicated to celebrating and advancing Wisconsin’s Black community, will host a steel topping out construction ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 11 a.m.
The ceremony marking the completion of the structural framework of The Center for Black Excellence and Culture’s building will be a major milestone in the construction of a historic community and cultural home where Black residents and others throughout the community can gather to plan for and celebrate current and future growth and advancement. Attendees at the event will hear remarks from The Center’s leadership and enjoy refreshments.
The event will feature remarks from Findorff President and CEO Jim Yehle, according to a press release from The Center, and the ceremonial signing of the last structural beam which will be black with The Center’s logo on it.
The Center for Black Excellence and Culture, which broke ground in June 2024, is located at 655 W. Badger Road.
