Centro, a Madison nonprofit serving the Latinx community, will host its 43rd Annual Celebration at Mercadito on Thursday, Oct. 29, bringing together families, community members and local businesses for an evening of food, music and recognition.
The celebration will begin at 4 p.m. with Centro’s weekly Mercadito community farmers market at 2403 Cypress Way on Madison’s South Side. A special performance by Cumbia Cachaca will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a short awards ceremony at 6 p.m. honoring individuals and community partners who have supported Centro and its work.
Food will be provided by Centro’s 13 Mercadito vendors, with live music and an indoor afterparty following the awards ceremony.
“This is a night to engage with one another, celebrate our community, recognize our honorees, and as we do every year, raise funds for Centro youth programs,” said Karen Menéndez Coller, executive director of Centro, in a press release. “As we approach the end of the year, it is a time to reconnect, celebrate our collective strength, and remember our purpose as an organization to stabilize families and uplift the next generation.”
The event is free and designed for the entire family. Centro will also use the celebration to raise funds for its youth programs and community-centered work.
Free registration and sponsorship information is available through Centro’s events page.
