The City of Madison Affirmative Action Commission will be holding a two-part meeting to hold brief presentations from local organizations about employment initiatives and to listen to concerns from community members about employment in the city of Madison. This meeting will take place in the Community Room at the Urban League of Greater Madison Tuesday, March 8, 6 p.m.
This meeting will have three to five minute presentations from organizations including: Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, City of Madison Human Resources, City of Madison Community Development Division, City of Madison Department of Civil Rights, Construction Training, Inc., Latino Academy of Workforce Development, Madison Area Urban Ministry, Operation Fresh Start, Urban League of Greater Madison, Worksmart Network, and YWCA of Madison.
A duty of the Affirmative Action Commission is to “disseminate information and to educate the people of the City of Madison to a greater understanding and practice of Affirmative Action Employment for all affected and/or other under-represented groups” (Madison General Ordinances Chapter 39.02(3)(c)). The Commission would like to better understand current employment climate, services offered, and identify any potential gaps that may exist.
