Madison nurses held a counter-protest in response to Friday’s planned anti-Safer at Home demonstration at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
According to a news release from SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin, more than 1,300 candles were installed in honor of every person in the state who was hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
The event began Thursday at 8 p.m. and took place at the Capitol building’s West Entrance stairs, which faces State Street.
“It makes me sad that people want to get together in mass protesting to reopen the state when what we’ve done has worked so well here in Wisconsin,” said Ani Weaver, a registered nurse in Madison.
