While diversity, equity, and inclusion may be under attack in Wisconsin and across the country, perhaps the best method of fighting such regressive strides is to continue to highlight the pursuit of diversity, equity, and inclusion. That is the goal of Culture x Design who are set to hold a free launch party on Thursday, Jan. 25, 6 p.m., at Radio Milwaukee on 220 East Pittsburgh Ave.
Culture x Design is a new Milwaukee-based firm that looks to partner with organizations, people, and entities to help create and curate events and engagements that speak to diverse audiences and new ideas. Culture x Design will be looking to give insights into marketing techniques, communications training, and development around soft-skills to create better connections and imagine more possibilities for cultural events and gatherings.
With Black History Month coming up in February, it is fitting for Culture x Design to be kicking their work off officially at the end of the month. Coming up next month they will have a Black history trivia night, a couple of film-watching events with discussion after, a couple of events celebrating the music of Lauryn Hill with Dr. Joan Morgan to head the discussion for the first, and also a discussion and networking event around being Black in Milwaukee’s creative economy.
The kickoff event will open at 6 p.m. on January 25 at Radio Milwaukee with music by DJ Bizzon. Afterward, the Culture x Design team consisting of Gerauld Blanks, Maureen Post, and Raneel Washington will give a presentation on the firm as well as answer any audience questions in closing. The afterparty will begin at 7:30 p.m. with more music from DJ Bizzon.
