EXPO of Wisconsin, in partnership with FREE, will host the Headlight Caravan of Love, Mother’s Day Edition on Sunday, May 7, 7:30 p.m. at the Festival Foods Parking Lot in Fond du Lac.
The event is intended to uplift and honor women incarcerated at Taycheedah Correctional Institution, where Mother’s Day can be one of the most difficult days of the year due to separation from children, families, and community.
EXPO (EX-Incarcerated People Organizing) is a statewide organization led by formerly incarcerated people dedicated to strengthening communities through civic engagement, leadership development, and systems change.
“Community members are encouraged to attend and stand in solidarity,” EXPO said in a press release announcing the event. “Participants will gather for a brief program featuring directly impacted mothers before forming a unified caravan of vehicles. With headlights shining, the caravan will drive past Taycheedah Correctional Institution as a visible demonstration of care and community support.”
Organizers aim to create a mile-long line of vehicles at the Mother’s Day Headlight Caravan of Love, offering a powerful visual message to those inside the facility.
