Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison will begin to distribute bikes to non-profit organizations and schools throughout Dane County on Saturday, May 8, noon-5 p.m., at East Towne Mall, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison, a local nonprofit organization that hosted its first bike giveaway in 2017, will partner with over 40 organizations to help distribute bicycles to low-income and diverse communities and will host a riding clinic for people with Down Syndrome through GiGi’s Playhouse of Madison at 4 p.m.

“We’re on a mission to see that every kid in Dane County who wants a bike gets one, no matter their financial position or ability. We are dedicated to making the joys of biking inclusive to everyone even if they have different abilities or have never ridden before. Bikes can be modified to fit every individual’s needs,” said Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison Executive Director Kristie Goforth in a statement. “Bikes are also a main form of transportation for many individuals. They’re not just toys for kids. We also give bikes to adults from organizations like YWCA, The Road Home, Latino Academy of Workforce Development, and many others.”

Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison will be giving away more bikes than it ever has this year, according to a press release from the organization, with a goal of giving away more than 2,000 bicycles in 2021.
