Rock County Board supervisor Genia Stevens announced today that she will not seek another term on the Rock County Board, citing growth and restructuring of Rock County Jumpstart, an organization she founded in 2019 to support Black and brown entrepreneurs.

Stevens was first appointed to the county board in March 2021, and subsequently won election to a full term in 2022 and re-election in 2024.

According to a press release from Stevens, Rock County Jumpstart is entering a major restructuring that includes a rebrand and expansion into three additional counties. She has also launched the Civic Leadership Alliance, a volunteer-led nonprofit that creates pathways for new voices to build confidence, develop influence, and participate in local government and public decision-making.

“With the level of organizational growth and strategic planning ahead for Rock County Jumpstart, my time and focus must be fully dedicated to the restructuring and expansion,” Stevens said in a release. “As we broaden our footprint to serve more entrepreneurs across the region, I will not be able to give the County Board the time and attention it deserves. Stepping aside is the responsible decision for both the County Board and the community I serve.”

Stevens said she will complete her current term, which runs through next year.
