The Goodman Community Center and Girls Inc. of Greater Madison (GIGM) will host the first TGIF (The Girls Inc. Family) Camp 9 am – 4 pm on Friday, Aug. 18 at Garner Park on Madison’s west side. The camp will be a full day of fun and learning, open to Madison-area third- through eighth-grade girls and nonbinary youth, according to a press release issued Monday. Kids will enjoy a day of activities and group fun centered on leadership development.
“I’m so excited to spend a whole day encouraging kids to embrace themselves and all their awesomeness,” Jade Koenigs, Girls Inc. of Greater Madison Manager, said in a statement. “Girls Inc.’s message is all about being strong, smart and bold and knowing you’re worthy of doing and being great. That’s something we want kids to feel when they leave this camp.”
Role models from the community will guide youth through a schedule packed with creative, educational activities that highlight the Girls Inc. Bill of Rights and are designed to inspire participants to feel strong, smart and bold. Activities will include a dance party with DJ Mira, obstacle course, career circus and more. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
The camp will take place 9am-4pm, Aug. 18, at Garner Park on Madison’s near-west side. Parents are asked to drop off their children and then pick them up at the end of the camp. Cost to attend is free for Girls Inc. members and just $5 for non-Girls Inc. members. Any family that is unable to cover the $5 cost can use code FREETGIF at checkout.
