Gov. Tony Evers announced the appointment of Dr. Darrell Williams as Administrator of the Division of Emergency Management in the Department of Military Affairs in a press release Friday.
Williams was previously the Assistant Superintendent for the Beloit School District. He has also served as a Turn Around Principal for Washington High School and Casimir Pulaski High School in Milwaukee and received his doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Williams retired from the U.S. Army reserves as a Major after serving for 29 years and has received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Humanitarian Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.
“Dr. Williams’ years of distinguished military service coupled with his outstanding career in the Wisconsin public education system make me confident that he will serve well in this position,” Evers said in a statement. “I’m thankful for Brian Satula and his years of service to the state of Wisconsin and the agency.”
Dr. Williams will begin as Administrator of the Division of Emergency Management in the Department of Military Affairs on July 15, 2019.
The Division of Emergency Management in the Department of Military Affairs coordinates disaster response and recovery efforts in support of local governments. Programs include Hazard Mitigation, Warning and Communications, Emergency Police and Fire Services, Disaster Response and Recovery, Hazardous Materials & EPCRA, and Radiological Emergency Preparedness.
