Help Welcome Students Back to School

As has become tradition in the past two years, Madison365 and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County are urging community volunteers to welcome students back to school at Mendota Elementary School on Tuesday and Cherokee Middle School on Wednesday this week.

“We know our community is behind these kids and really pulling for them to succeed,” said Madison365 and Selfless Ambition CEO Henry Sanders. “The kids need to know it, too. We just want them to start another school year full of confidence knowing we’ve got their backs.”

“This is a simple but powerful way to show kids how important school is for their present and their future,” said Boys and Girls Club of Dane County CEO Rod Mitchell. “As an adult could you imagine how motivated you would be at work, if your first day back after your vacation, there were 50 or more people, mostly strangers, cheering for you as you walked in the front door?”

Volunteers should gather at Mendota Elementary School, 4002 School Road, by 7:20 am Tuesday and at Cherokee Middle School, 4301 Cherokee Drive, at 7 am Wednesday.

The Boys and Girls Clubs will also donate backpacks filled with school supplies to the schools as well as gifts of appreciation for the teachers.
