Outrage is widespread among House leaders after President Donald Trump encouraged the mob who breached and ransacked the United States Capitol where a police officer and four others have died. Three House Democrats are planning to introduce articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Monday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tells her caucus she prefers Trump resigning or the 25th Amendment before impeaching him, according to CNN, but she made clear that there is more backing within the House Democratic Caucus for impeaching Trump now than there was in 2019 during Trump’s first impeachment.

The articles say Trump “willfully made statements that encouraged — and foreseeably resulted in — imminent lawless action at the Capitol.”

The chamber could potentially vote on his removal from office by midweek. Even if the House does impeach Trump, it’s far from clear the GOP-controlled Senate would act before his presidency runs out in 12 days.
