Howard Moore

The UW basketball team will recognize assistant coach Howard Moore prior to the tip-off of Friday night’s home opener versus Eastern Illinois at the Kohl Center.

Moore’s family was involved in a tragic auto accident that claimed the lives of Moore’s wife, Jen, and 9-year-old daughter, Jaidyn. Moore is currently on medical leave.

Moore played for the Wisconsin Badgers in the 1990s and was an assistant coach under Bo Ryan before becoming head coach at the University of Illinois-Chicago and then an analyst for Big Ten Network. He returned to Wisconsin in 2015 when Greg Gard took over midseason for Ryan.

Former Badger star Alando Tucker, filling the role of Moore, is serving this season as an interim assistant coach. The Badgers started the season with a tough 65-63 overtime loss to No. 20 Saint Mary’s on Tuesday.
