Joe Jackson, the father of Michael, Janet and their eight siblings and the architect of the Jackson 5, has died, according to multiple reports. He was 89.
TMZ and Entertainment Tonight reported today that Jackson died at 3:30 a.m. in Los Angeles, citing anonymous sources.
The 89-year-old Jackson had been battling terminal cancer. TMZ reported his wife, Katherine, and some of his children had flown to his hospital bedside in Las Vegas.
Jackson was born in Fountain Hill, Arkansas. In 1949, the Jacksons married and would go on to have 10 children: Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Michael, Randy, and Janet. (Son Brandon died shortly after birth.) All of the kids embarked on musical careers.
