The Catholic Multicultural Center (CMC) announced today that members of the Madison-area Latino community will come together to participate in the 7th annual all-day CMC Radiothon event. La Movida Spanish Radio will partner with CMC supporters to raise funds for the many social services offered by the organization located on Madison’s south side.

The event will be broadcast live on La Movida 1480AM/94.5FM from noon to 6 p.m. At the same time, a community celebration will take place at the CMC (1862 Beld St., Madison) from noon to 7 p.m., starting with an Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass in Spanish at noon.

“Helping the CMC is important because it is the first place that gives a hand when you need it, no matter where you come from,” said CMC volunteer Jeliel Peña de First in a statement. “They offer free meals, computer lab, help looking for a job, food pantry, and much more.”

Those who come to the Radiothon to offer their support for these services will enjoy dance performances by Ballet Folklorico de Carlos y Sonia Ávila, live guitar music, music by DJ Elo, and lots of delicious Latin American food donated by local restaurants and volunteers, all in the fellowship of other community members who share the value of giving back to our community.

“The Radiothon is a way to bring the community together and help us to help families in need,” said CMC Director Andy Russell in a press release. “A lot of the families we serve are going through a harder and scarier time now, and we just want to let them know we are here for them.”

For the many individuals and families that have received services from the Center, the Radiothon is the time they look forward to where they can give back. Claribelle Vera Heredia once came to the CMC for services, and now she has come for the past several years to volunteer at the Radiothon.

“For ten years I have lived in Madison and since the first moment, the Catholic Multicultural Center of Madison has been present to support me and my family,” said Vera Heredia in a statement. “I have received so much care there, including the support of the conscientious and dedicated staff. Participating in the Radiothon fundraiser is an opportunity to simply give back to the CMC for all the support that I have received. Thanks to the funds raised with this activity, the Center can continue offering services and programs to all our community. Let’s respond to the call of our Center.”

There are two options to participate in CMC Radiothon 2018: call in the day of the event at 608-661-3512; or stop by in-person to join the festivities and make your donation. Donations can be also be made in advance either online at cmcmadison.org or by mailing a check to the CMC with “Radiothon” in the memo line. All contributions will directly support the social services of the CMC.
