Latinos United for College Education Scholarships (LUCES) is accepting applications for its 2023 scholarships. The organization is hoping to provide $2,000 scholarships to area students. The deadline to apply for the scholarships is Friday, June 16.
LUCES is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and advocate for the higher educational advancement of Latinos through the provision of merit and need-based scholarships. The organization recognizes promising Latino students in the area during their senior year, college students or adult returning students that have completed their GED/HSED who have shown previous involvement in volunteer/leadership or community activities.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be of Latino or other Hispanic heritage.
- Currently living in South-Central Wisconsin.
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5.
- Upon receiving the LUCES scholarship, recipients must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits during the semester in which they receive the scholarship at an accredited Wisconsin College or University.
Upon selection scholarship recipients are required to do the following:
- Record a 2-minute video. Recipients will receive instructions for the video.
- Attend the LUCES GALA awards banquet.
- Provide an individual photo.
- Upon receiving the scholarship, you are required to participate in the LUCES group mentorship program consisting of 4 virtual hour-long sessions.
