By all accounts, rising pop star Lizzo’s headlining performance at Summerfest’s Harley-Davidson Roadhouse stage went really well on Thursday night. After the show, however, she took to Twitter to accuse a Summerfest security guard of a “racist act” and using “hurtful language” while “tackling and dragging” people from her team off the festival grounds in Milwaukee.
Lizzo said that the Summerfest security guard tackled and attacked her stylist and hair stylist and asked those who witnessed the incident to send footage.
“This racist bigot put his hands on my people and used hurtful language while tackling and dragging my team off the festival grounds,” Lizzo originally said in an all-caps Tweet directed at Summerfest.
Later, she tweeted: “Racism and bigotry don’t care if you’re a headliner.”

Summerfest has since responded.
“Lizzo gave an incredible performance which she now feels is tarnished by events which occurred during the performance. We do not tolerate racism in any form. We will conduct a thorough investigation,” Summerfest said via Twitter.
