Dr. Valerie Henderson, the executive director and founder of Sankofa Behavioral & Community Health, will be the keynote speaker during an “End The Stigma” event that aims to end the stigmatization of mental health issues.
The event will focus mainly on mental health awareness for students of color and the LGBTQ community. Mental health clinics and providers from around Madison will be on hand to share information. Sankofa BHC, Anesis, Journey Mental Health Center, Access Community Health, Rape Crisis Center and Covering Wisconsin will be among them.
“End The Stigma” will take place in the Intercultural Exchange room at Madison College’s Truax Campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.
The event will include a lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a speech by Dr. Henderson.
