Madison’s own Demitrius Kigeya has signed a 25-day contract with the Forward Madison Flamingos following his start to the season as a trialist.

Kigeya, the son of Dane County Supervisor April Kigeya and West High School Principal Daniel Kigeya, will be beginning the contract after league and federation approval.

“We are excited to have Demitrius join the group,” said FMFC Head Coach Matt Glaeser in a press release. “It’s a good opportunity for him to prove himself in the short term. It’s always nice to be able to utilize local talent with ties to the club and community.”

Kigeya played in the Wisconsin Rush youth program and spent two years at Madison Memorial before finishing his high school career at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Minnesota. At Gonzaga University, Kigeya earned WCC All-Freshman Team after his first season and All-WCC Second Team honors after his sophomore season.

During that sophomore season, Kigeya would also rack up an impressive 1,209 minutes played with 12 shots on goal. Kigeya also earned All-WCC Second Team honors his junior year, along with First Team honors his senior year.

Kigeya, who graduated in 2022, has come back to Madison to join the Flamingos as their support and success continue to grow in USL League One.
