The Madison Night Market will take over N. Carroll and W. Mifflin streets around Capitol Square, as well as State and Gilman streets on Thursday, Aug. 20. The event brings together iconic brick-and-mortar storefronts and the region’s renowned artisan makers, from State Street retailers to visiting food carts, pop-up restaurants and live music, creating a one-of-a-kind urban street festival.

This upcoming market’s theme will be “Celebrating UW-Madison.” August marks the return of UW-Madison students and staff, and Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) is excited to welcome them back and celebrate their contributions to the downtown community.

The indie folk group Bear In the Forest will perform at the Peace Park Performance Stage from 5:15-6-45 p.m., followed by the genre-blending alternative rock band Secret Menu from 7-9 p.m

The Madison Night Market Family Activity Zone, located where State Street meets the Capitol Square, will feature a rotating slate of family-friendly activities to keep kids creative, active, and having fun with community partners.

There will also be buskers and performers throughout the market, including Eric De Los Santos, The Bill Roberts Combo, The Hitterz Collective, and Amanda Gatewood, the human statue

The Madison Night Market is hosted by Madison’s Central Business Improvement District, in partnership with the City of Madison.
