Madison-based Park Bank and Madison365 today announced the launch of ConnectBlack, a free and open-access directory of Black-owned businesses in the Madison area.

The directory, available at ConnectBlack.Madison365.org, currently includes more than 100 local Black-owned businesses. It is searchable by name, location and category. Business owners can submit their listing any time, free of charge.

It was built by Anisha Blumenberg of aMack Design, a Black woman owned web development and digital design firm.

“With the current climate of our community and economy, there’s been a renewed interest in supporting Black businesses, and that’s been great to see,” said Jeff Mack, Park Bank First Vice President Business Development. “I believe one of the challenges facing our community is the lack of capital distribution. People often don’t know how and where to find black businesses. We now have a central location through ConnectBlack where community and business align.”

“I’m grateful to our Black business owners for their initiative, innovation and commitment to the community,”  said Suzanne Johnson, Park Bank Vice President of Branch Banking. “Madison 365’s commitment to the Connect Black Platform is a purposeful contribution to our community. This platform will support the elevation of Black businesses and continue to connect consumers.”

“I thank Park Bank for demonstrating their commitment to Black-owned businesses and Black-owned media,” said Madison365 Publisher and CEO Henry Sanders. “This is a first step for us — we fully intend to take what Anisha built and expand it statewide in the coming months. Black-owned businesses are doing good work from Eau Claire to Racine and we want to help them all shine.”

There is no charge to submit a listing, which will be reviewed and approved by Madison365 staff to ensure accuracy. Listings must be reviewed and renewed once per year to make sure the directory has the most up-to-date information.
