For the 11th year in a row, public and private spaces throughout the City of Madison will become stages on Wednesday with over 200 free live performances for Make Music Madison.
Coffee shops, community centers, schools, front porches, public libraries, and park shelters will all feature a diversity of music from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
This summer extravaganza invites the community to celebrate the longest day of the year together outdoors and invest in the local and creative community, according to a press release from the City of Madison, the host of the annual event. Musicians represent all genres, styles of music, skill levels, and ages.
Madison has been hosting a free, citywide day of music every year on the first day of summer, the longest day of the year, since 2013. It is part of the larger Make Music Day, an international summer solstice music celebration occurring in 1,000+ cities across the globe.
The performances are free, however, tipping is encouraged.
