From June 15 until June 30, Metcalfe’s Markets will match up to $10,000 in donations to nonprofits in Madison and Milwaukee that work to support Black lives.
“Our ‘why’ at Metcalfe’s is to ‘Connect & Enrich People, Our Community, and Beyond,’” said Metcalfe’s CEO Tim Metcalfe. “We believe that means standing in solidarity with our Black team members, neighbors, shoppers, and communities against all forms of racism and violence. We are committed to change, equity, and inclusion.”
Donations will be divided equally among the organizations, except for any donations of $100 or more. Donors can decide where to direct larger donations and the Metcalfe’s match.
“A lot of businesses have put out statements supporting Black lives and calling for equality” said Henry Sanders, CEO of Madison365, which is a partner in promoting the Metcalfe’s Black Lives Matter Campaign and a beneficiary organization. “It’s easy to put out a statement. It’s not as easy to put your money behind the statement. I want to thank Tim and his team for walking the walk when it comes to supporting our community.”
Madison-based organizations that will benefit include Freedom Inc, Madison365, YWCA-Madison, Boys & Girls Club Of Dane County, Urban League of Greater Madison, Focused Interruption Coalition, Rebalance Life Wellness Association, and the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness. Milwaukee-based organizations include Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC), YWCA Southeastern Wisconsin, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, Grateful Girls, PEARLS for Teen Girls, Milwaukee Urban League, and Hope Street.
Donations can be made at any Metcalfe’s location.
